SCOTIA WEALTH MANAGEMENT

The Danny Gallivan Cystic Fibrosis Golf Tournament is pleased to announce that Scotia Wealth Management will be the tournament’s presenting sponsor for the next five years.

“We’re delighted to partner with Scotiabank’s wealth management team on The Gallivan,” said Bette El-Hawary, tournament chair. “Scotiabank was founded here and continues to be engaged with and supportive of our community. This is a perfect partner for us.”

At Scotiabank, investing in and enriching communities has been a focus for 185 years. In 2016, Scotiabank contributed more than $70 million to community causes around the world.

“We believe in supporting organizations that help young people reach their infinite potential,” said Craig Thompson, Senior Vice President, Atlantic Region at Scotiabank. “The Danny Gallivan CF Golf Tournament is a fun way for us all to support the important research and outreach done by Cystic Fibrosis Canada. We hope the community joins us for this great event.”

In its 33rd year, The Danny Gallivan CF Golf Tournament is the region’s longest running charitable golf tournament. The tournament was started by a group of volunteers determined to raise funds in support of the fight against cystic fibrosis, a disease that takes the lives of more young Canadians than any other disease except cancer.

To date, the tournament has raised almost $2 million which has been used by Cystic Fibrosis Canada to fund research and clinical care at facilities like the IWK and the QEll. The tournament is named after its first honourary chair, Danny Gallivan, the legendary Nova Scotian broadcaster who, for 32 years, was Hockey Night in Canada’s voice of the Montreal Canadiens.

“Sponsor commitment, coupled with the commitment of our celebrities and our players, speaks to the strength of The Gallivan,” said Ms. El-Hawary. This year’s tournament will be held July 5-6 at Ashburn’s Old Course in Halifax.
